From June 26th to July 4th Alyson Grzyb joined the senior high youth group of the Nichols United Methodist Church of Trumbull, CT (her home church) on a mission trip with the Appalachia Service Project.  She volunteered for a week of her summer, along with thousands of others, to help make the homes of families in Central Appalachia warmer, safer, and drier for the upcoming winter.  In the Central Appalachian region of the USA one out of four homes is considered sub-standard (which means that they lack indoor plumbing, electricity, a kitchen, and/or protection from the elements) and the poverty rate is three times the national average.  This was Alyson's 11th time putting her faith into action with the Appalachia Service Project.  If you would like to make a donation to the Appalachia Service Project checks can be sent to 4523 Bristol Highway, Johnson City, TN  37601 or donations can be made on-line at www.ASPhome.org/give
